The reaction? Beef up the non-league schedule, adding Westlake and El Diamante, from the Central Section. With junior QB Tom Bernal and 3-year starters Jose Lopez at OL and Mitchell Van Dyke at TE/DE/OL, the offense should be in good hands, but the defense should be even stronger. 9 experienced starters return on D, including LBs Garried Mitchell (3-year starter) and Matt Remington (same). Time will tell if the Bearcats can compete with the state-elite competition in the Northern Division, but this year they might have as good of a shot as any.
