Just by the numbers, it's difficult to state that this year's Golden Valley football team will be significantly different than last year's (6th place in league), but there could be some intangibles at play. "The overall team is coming together; we are better at almost every position this year," states Coach Steve Pinkston. With 7 returners on D, they certainly should improve on the 38 points per game they allowed last year, which, in turn, should help the offense. A marginal gain may be present, but we are still talking about the Foothill League, where the gap was very large in '07. The preleague schedule is not really much different than last year's, except for the addition of Camarillo on the last weekend of September. If this year's Grizzlies are truly better, then that will be the first major opportunity to demonstrate to the rest of their league-mates that they will be dangerous.
