It seems that they have D-I type talent all over the place. QB Ted Landers is talking to some programs and RB Carl Winston is a returning All-Northwest Division selection. DB Anthony Carpenter, DL Sione Tuihalamaka, WR/DB Robert Woods, and WR/DB George Farmer have all received offers from western regional programs (many from the Pac-10). As solid as the skill positions are on this team, Coach Scott Altenberg acknowledges that his depth on the lines might be an issue. "We can not afford injuries." While simply stating that this team will be better might be okay, the Cavaliers are out to prove it. They tacked on two heavyweights from the Los Angeles City Section to their non-league schedule, Carson and Taft. Of course, whenever you talk about a quality team in the Southern Section Northwest Division, one question always pops up. Can they challenge Oaks Christian? The list of contenders that might overtake the Lions is short (very short, actually), but Serra certainly is on it. |
