Outlook: Chula Vista High had a nice season overall, going 8-3 and advancing to the 2nd round of the San Diego Section D-I playoffs. While Coach Judd Rachow feels this year's team will be more athletic, youth may be the biggest factor in determining their level of success. Only 5 starters return. To make matters worse, due to apparent stadium renovations, the Spartans will have no home games in 2008. With new QB Victor Perez, Coach Rachow actually feels that there should be an improvement in the passing game, accompanied by a solid running game with 3-year starter Taimi Tutogi at FB (over 800 yards total offense) and Athony Stanislaus likely taking over at RB. Defensively, Chula Vista was extremely stout, yielding a meager 12.7 points per game. This year, again, youth will be served, but DLs Gilbert Merino, DE Tutogi, and Angelo Morales and Ruben Aloyo at SS will do their best to bring the young guys along.
