The 2007 version of the La Costa Canyon football team was pretty good. Two of those losses were by 7 and 4 to eventual CIF D-II State Champ Oceanside. That's a little scary considering how young that team was. The 2008 Mavericks will be returning 14 starters, 9 on offense. How far they actually go may depend on the development of Sebastian Frausto at QB. At linebacker, Coach Brown says that Jacob Driver is "as good as they come." A San Diego section title may not be out of the question, but they will desperately need wins over Mission Viejo and Santa Margarita (in back-to-back weeks) if they are to be realistically considered for a CIF bowl game. |
