Outlook: This is the first year for Robert Hurtado to fill the role of the head coach for the Lindsay Cardinals. However, Coach Hurtado isn't new to the program. He has 20 years of experience coaching at lower levels and spent two years coaching the Cardinals' junior varsity squad. Although the Cardinals will be young, there is a lot of talent. Outstanding players include All-leaguers Jonathan Duarte RB, Gary Barker QB, Tony Perez LB, Ron Cortez DB and Gabriel Rubalcava DB. There is plenty of depth especially among the linemen. Jose Palos, Nathan Rojas, Eddie Anaya and Jerry Hinojosa will anchor the offensive line. It appears as if Lindsay will have a junior-dominated team. The redskins will have two potential starting quarterbacks, and a strong core of underclassmen, many listed above as all-leaguers, who started at varsity last year. Their junior varsity squad mates, who have had, together, a long history of winning, will join them. Coach Hurtado told us most of this group of juniors has been playing together since they were 8 years old so they have a lot of football experience. "They know what it takes to win and are willing to put in the work required," said Coach Hurtado. "We have a strong core of senior linemen who bring leadership. Our depth at QB, running back and offensive line will really be a plus for us."
