Outlook: Coach Robbie Garza's Pirates must integrate new skill position into the lineup this season with only eight starters back from last year's eight win campaign. Sophomore Daniel Hernandez may start at QB with C.J. Roberts competing for playing time. Jonathan Lowe and Julian Martinez should both see carries. The team's strength may be in the trenches with Don Flores, Isiah Calais and Max Metzger up front. On defense, Daniel Lara, Justin Hernandez and Roger Salazar will lead the way at LB. If backfield talent is solid, the team should be good.
